Somsai Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a selection examination cum interview at Ukhrul for young students to join the aviation sector through Jettwings Institute. This initiative of Assam Rifles enabled 45 candidates from Ukhrul and Kamjong district to realise their dreams. These candidates who have been selected by Jettwings, a Guwahati based institute, will undergo one-year Graduate Diploma in Aviation, Hospitality and Cabin Crew Operations starting in the month of September 2019. The training and placement programme is fully sponsored by the Ministry of Rural Development. Assam Rifles stepped in as a facilitator and coordinated with the institute to come over to Ukhrul for the selections. Assam Rifles also encouraged children from remote locations like Chattrik and Chassad to take the exam. 10 Sector Assam Rifles facilitated the conduct of written exam and personal interview on 25th June and 13th July 2019 at Assam Rifles post in Ukhrul.
Jetwing’s boasts of a 100% placement record for its previous batches. These 45 students from the hills are sure to achieve great success and emerge as role models for other youth in the area. It is pertinent to highlight that 64 youth from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts have already joined the Institute for training in the last year.
on the other hand, Keithelmanbi Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted security coordination meeting at Lilong Company Operating Base (COB) on 13th July 2019. The security forum was attended by the Meira Paibis, Ward Councilors, Pradhans, representatives of Anti Social Prevention Organisation (ASPO) and members of local youth clubs. During the meet, the locals were sensitised and updated on the current situation existing in the area of responsibility. There was also an interaction carried out on necessary measures required to be undertaken by locals in synergy with Assam Rifles for maintaining a strict vigil against illicit activities in the area. In addition to the security issues, future action plan in respect of civic action projects like medical camps, recruitment in Assam Rifles and Army and career counselling for youth were also discussed during the meet. The locals expressed their gratitude and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for the conduct of such security meetings and ensuring peace in the area and assured their commitment and assistance in maintaining the same. The security meet concluded with tea and refreshments for all the attendees.
