Renown Sana khongnang of Manipur was burned today at around 7 am at Imphal west Langol Ningthou leikai, creating panic among the people at Langol in Imphal West. The incident occurred inside the Langol Ningthou compound of Langol Ningthou Leikai. State Forest Minister Shyamkumar arrived at the incident site and took stock of the situation. The minister told media persons that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. However, he believed that some unidentified people were responsible for the fire. In a telephonic conversation, Senior Principal Scientist of The Council of Scientific and Research Institute (CSIR), Dr. Huidrom Birkumar told TOM TV that the age-old banyan tree was withering, so the central part of the tree has started drying up. Dr. Birkumar also didn’t rule out on the possibility that some individuals might have dropped a combustible substance near the tree that triggered the fire.
On the other hand, Langol Ningthou Luptin has registered an FIR at Imphal West Police Station regarding the matter.
