A woman was killed and three others were injured when an old shop building collapsed at busy Khwairamband bazaar in Imphal city this afternoon. The fatal incident happened amidst a scuffle ensued between a group of women street vendors and police near the site where the building caved in. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. The injured have been identified as Tombi, aged 53 years, resident of Ngariyan Ching Shandang Senba, MK Sangkhu, aged 40 years, resident of Ngariyan Ching Sandang Senba, both street vendors and Kishan Thounaojam, aged 27 years, a passer-by from Mayang Imphal Ani Longbi. The injured were rushed to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal for medical treatment. The shop building belongs to one Aheibam Dilip while the tenant is identified as Sitam Sharma. Sources informed the collapsed building is over 70 years old. It is located opposite Mahabir Pharmacy. People ran helter-skelter for their lives after the building suddenly collapsed.
