Four labourers were killed and another four injured critically after a Tata truck carrying them met with a major road accident at Bijang Leinganglok, about 5 km from New Keithelmanbi along Imphal-Jiribam road early this morning. The injured were rushed to RIMS hospital and Shija hospital, Imphal for medical treatment. They have been admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of the two hospitals. The fatal road mishap took place around 5 am. The deceased have been identified as Laishram Dhaneshwor, aged 33 years, Laishram Dolen, aged 39, Thokchom Tontomba, aged 29 years and Wangkheirakpam Samom, aged 36 years, all hailing from Moidangpok Mayai Leikai. They were travelling in the ill-fated truck to collect stone from a quarry at Tiliyang when the accident happened. A report said the truck skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge as the vehicle was overtaking another vehicle. Police recovered the bodies and brought to RIMS mortuary for post mortem. The injured have been identified as Th Nabakeshwor, Laishram Nanaotomba, Th Shital and Laishram Aboi, the driver. They are also from Moidangpok.
