On the second day of the 11th Manipur legislative assembly winter session Chief Minister N Biren, said that it is very unfortunate that some armed miscreants killed one surrender S.Modhu of Thangmeiband who was getting full medical treatment for some illness. The government will extend all help to compensate and help the next of kin, the CM added. N.Biren also stated that till now around 653 armed militants have surrendered and it is the responsibility of the govt. to take care of them. The state government has provided a onetime financial assistance and a monthly stipend. N Biren on his answer to MLA Md. Abdu Nasir regarding the death of a youth in Tharoijam mob violence mentioned that, the accused persons involved in the incident have been charged sheeted and the Govt. will render all possible help needed by the family of the deceased.
Meanwhile, five personnel who were involved the custodial death case of Usoipokpi Md. Abdul Graffer alias Sayid were suspended today. A combine team of 26 AR and a team of Thoubal Commando picked up Md. Abdul Gaffer from his residence in Ushoipokpi makha Tharorok on the night of December 19 was brought death to the casualty of JNIMS hospital. According to a news source received by TOM TV News, the suspended personnel are Ph Arunkumar, Kh.Basanta of 3RD IRB, Ch. Nabakumar of 5 IRB, Th. Nandalal of 6 MR and police personnel from Thoubal police. The JAC which was formed in connection to the incident demanded the chief minister for the magisterial enquiry however after meeting with the CM N. Biren last night they have withdrawn their demand as the government has promised to provide ex-gratia and employment of one of the family members of the deceased.
